TRIBUTE
Oliver Jones, "Ollie" was born on the night of January 2, 2007.  I was sitting with his mother, Nina Simone, when I heard a tiny cry. I jumped to my feet to see Nina cleaning her firstborn. Beside her lay another one, still in the sac. My heart was racing as I tried to get this little one to start breathing. In a panic, I called Sig, my mentor, who told me to get a grip on myself for the mother's sake and helped me through massaging and warming this newborn. He finally started to breathe and within 48 hours his breathing was no different than his six other littermates. He was the biggest in the litter and easy to recognize. I watched him like a hawk to make sure he would have no side effect from his birth. As a kitten, he was nothing spectacular with his big frog eyes but I loved his quiet soul personality and when I looked at him, there was just something there about him I couldn't quite grasp.
It has been quite a year,
exiting, exhilarating, tiring and costly. I've earn a lot of flying and hotel points and put on a lot of mileage on my car, and I now have a room stuffed with all the rosettes Ollie won as 'Best Cat' in various rings during his season.  But it was well worth it. I've met wonderful exhibitors and new people along the way. It has been an incredible experience, and Ollie is now Canada's very First National winning Bombay. He finished 12th Best cat, 2nd Best cat and Best Shorthair in the North Atlantic Region. He is now retired from the show world and will do special appearances in schools to educate children, TV and photo shoots. However, his most important job now will be to make very pretty and wonderful babies like himself or even better. Thank you to all of Oliver's supporters.....  As someone I like very much says......."It's all about the cats". It sure is !!!
